August 12 Isaiah 40 - 42 Topic: Double Blessings Text: Luke 1:26-33 There are many ways of hitting a blessing. You may experience blessings in life through relationships. There are lots of people who have experienced blessings simply because they are linked with someone who has been blessed by God. If you ever come in close contact with someone who is highly favoured and blessed by God you must treasure that relationship. How many people have had their lots bettered in life just because they are positioned near a friend, a brother, an uncle, a man of God or a spouse. Do you know that blessings can come through marriage? I Corinthians 7:17 says: “For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save thy husband? Or how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save thy wife?” Through the wife, blessings can come to the husband. Blessings can also came to the wife through the husband. An example is the case of Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ. She brought Joseph’s name into the limelight. Without Mary, no one would have known Joseph. Why? Mary was highly favoured and blessed. The Bible says: “And the angel came unto her, and said, Hail thou that art highly favoured, the LORD is with thee; blessed art thou among women.” It was to Mary that God sent the message. Joseph just happened to be the husband of Mary. Also, Rachael and Leah became blessed because they got hooked up to the blessings of Abraham. When both the husband and the wife are blessed, the blessing becomes double. This is why we always advise that children of God should marry each other. When a child of God marries a child of the devil, you can expect problems. If you really want to enjoy the blessings of God you must have a new life in Jesus Christ. This is why Jesus Christ said in John 3:3 that you must be born again and start life anew. II Corinthians 5:17 says: “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” If you want to experience the fullness of God God’s blessings you must be born again. Memory Verse: I Corinthians 7:16 - “For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save thy husband? Or how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save thy wife?
