August 16th and 17th proved to be another incredible weekend for the Holt Racing crew. All our hard work paid off and we took home win on both days. On Saturday the skies opened up and let loose an incredible downpour just prior to the race, and was still falling very hard as we took to the track for our warm up lap. My sponsor and crew chief Velocity Calibrations stayed late into the night preparing a completely new set up for this track, so as I went out we made a gable to stick with the new chassis configuration for the rain race. Good Grip Racing got me set up at the last moment with a killer set of Pirelli rain slicks and also made a pivotal call on a tire pressure change. My mechanic Aarica Zach Douglas got everything tightened up, and my riding partern Tommy Specker had me up to speed for the weekend. So I took to the track confident that my crew had put a bike underneath me that was ready for battle. The green flag dropped, and it only took a few corners for me to know that I had a bike that just WOULD NOT CRASH! It was that kind of confidence that allowed my to not only lead the first lap of the rain race for AM GT, but let me push through the expert pack so that only one expert remained in front of me by the time we crossed the line for the first lap. I eventfully got by the remaining expert and let a sizable portion of the race. I am very proud because this was only the second time I have raced in the rain, and I have rode in the rain very little overall. Eventually the winner of the expert race, Ernie Miller, made a very clean pass on me, and we freight trained it home to the checkers. I want to be the type of rider who is a threat to win in any condition, and this was one step closer to that goal. With these two wins I was able to extend my points lead in the championship with two more rounds remaining. It just would not be possible though without my unbelievable hard working crew and supportive family(Tanda Kay, Mom and Mike). I also had the fortunate luck to capture the interest of avid photographer Emily Vallarta, who got some pretty cool moments on film. The picture with most of us standing by my bike encaplsates our race weekends, with everyone doing anything they can to help me win. Sometimes I think they want it more than me:)! Cant thank everyone enough, and hope to continue this success for my sponsors ACT Racing, Midwest Track Day, Velocity Calibrations, Pirelli Motorsport, Good Grip Racing.
