August 18, 2013 – Summer is nearly over; this time of year is my favorite. I’m going to share a quick meal suggestion that is healthful and easy to make, but first let me list several Bible verses I’ve been reviewing this last week. It’s actually been 10 years since I seriously started memorizing Scripture. Each month I memorize new verses and also review Bible passages already memorized. What a fresh blessing these previously memorized verses are to me. They become even more indelibly stamped on my mind and heart. Right now I’m reviewing verses from Proverbs. Wow! They are bursting with meaning. Lord, apply and keep applying each of them in my life. Here are some of these verses from Proverbs to think about: “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit” (Prov. 18:21 NIV). --Lord, help me to realize the power I have each time I speak. “A man’s wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense” (Prov. 19:11). --Lord, to think it is glory for me to overlook an offense; give me this kind of wisdom. “It is to a man’s honor to avoid strife, but every fool is quick to quarrel” (Prov. 20:3). --Lord, I want the honor that comes from avoiding strife and not becoming a fool by quarreling and causing strife. Memorize verses in Proverbs and continue to review them over and over again so they become a part of your life. The Word of God is powerful. Now for a fast healthy meal suggestion: Stir fry can be made in so many ways. Of course, to make it with fresh ingredients is the best. A wonderful combination whether fresh or frozen is the blend of cauliflower, broccoli and carrots. Then to increase the flavor, add red, green and yellow cut up peppers and cut up onions. I like mushrooms with this as well. You can use many different ingredients in making stir fry; you can’t go wrong. It’s great to buy stir fry already put together which you can find in the freezer at your local supermarket. Begin by frying the cut up chicken breast with a little oil until tender, and then add the stir fry ingredients and sauté until the vegetables are the way you like them. Put this all over cooked brown (or white) rice and sprinkle some cashews on top to make a perfect meal. –Barbara Lea Goetz
