August 6, 2013 Parents, guardians, students, staff, and community members: The Benton Community School Board of Trustees, faculty and staff of Benton Community School Corporation is deeply saddened by the passing of Cole Liggett, a 2013 graduate of Benton Central Junior-Senior High School. On behalf of the school corporation, our condolences to his immediate and extended family. The tragic loss of Cole will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on the community of Benton County, Benton Community School Corporation, and its students. Benton Central counselors will be able to meet with students the remainder of this week from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. if needed. At this time, our thoughts and prayers are with the family as they work through this very heartbreaking and difficult time. During Cole’s senior year at Benton Central, he developed a strong bond with several teachers, and fellow students. Cole also volunteered at Otterbein Elementary in their After School Program during the school year. There were also four other former or current students involved with this accident, please keep those students and their families in your thoughts and prayers.
