August Alsina in a sense reminds me of a young Mary J. Blidge. Hear me out before you start poppin off. He reminds me of her because what sells them and garners a following for them is their story and ability to communicate and relate to people, even though they arent the best vocalists. Dont get me wrong Mary has a voice and August got some level of talent, but truthfully the heart and emotion they convey is real and people want that. THAT is why even though August sound like an average singer, his image coupled with his story makes him marketable to record labels. Im not to a point where Id go pay to see him personally, but I respect his ability to be open and honest even when his story seems messy or his voice is pitchy.
