August Meeting: A prog of devt-Nneoma Okorocha The State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has commended Imo women for demonstrating their relevance in the development of the State especially through their participation in the Annual August Meetings and other women programmes organized by the State Government. Addressing the Press at the Government House, Owerri recently, Governor Okorocha described his wife, Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha as a pillar of success who has through her SNARP programme, built and furnished over 270 houses for indigent widows and the poorest of the poor in the State and empowered indigent women through an interest- free revolving loan thereby alleviating the sufferings of such families. In his words, “show me a successful man and I show you a good wife’, the Governor reminded women that he who finds a wife finds a good thing, and should therefore remain loyal and supportive to their husbands and avoid nagging and other ills that take away the joy of marriage. He also called on husbands to appreciate the unquantifiable love and sacrifice of their wives to the family and help them tackle life challenges that come through child bearing, financial lack, ill health, oppositions from extended family members, etc. Governor Okorocha used the occasion to advise indigent women who benefited from the loan to be judicious and faithful in their refunds. The Governor used the occasion to call on women in the State to promote cleanliness by taking charge of the general clean-up exercise in their various communities.
