Aurizon (formerly QR National) is poised to commit to building key rail infrastructure that will allow billions of tonnes of coal in the Galilee Basin to be exported through the Great Barrier Reef world heritage site. NGOs, led by Greenpeace, have delivered an open letter to Aurizon urging them not to commit. It also "signals our intent to fight to prevent these projects being built".
