Australia has slid to 45th place in global average connection speeds behind Russia, Slovakia and Romania. Just over 4% of Australian connections are garnering above 10Mbps. A Japanese ISP backed by Sony has been offering a 2Gbps (that’s around 2000Mbps!) FTTH broadband package for ~AUD$50 a month since April: bit.ly/1hIw83W.
