Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) Open Day (File Photo) The Australian Defence Force Academy is holding its annual Open Day on Saturday 30 August. The Royal Australian Air Force, Australian Army and Royal Australian Navy will provide flypasts and aerial displays in support of the event. 11:30 – A RAAF Hawk 127 lead-in fighter aircraft from Number 78 Wing at RAAF Base Williamtown will conduct an aerial display consisting of three passes 11:50 – A RAAF PC-9/A aircraft from the RAAF Central Flying School will conduct an aerial display. 12:45 - A RAAF C-130J Hercules from Number 37 Squadron, RAAF Base Richmond will conduct a two passes at high speed from east to west, then south to north. 2:50pm - Army and Navy helicopter display. Flypasts and aerial displays are subject to suitable weather and operational requirements. Noise reduction and the environment are vital considerations in the planning and conduct of military activity and flypasts. Defence appreciates the ongoing support of the Canberra community during these activities. The Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) Open Day provides an opportunity for school students, parents and all members of the local community to visit ADFA and learn more about the Academy. The Open Day primarily invites secondary school students to learn more about the benefits of combining exceptional military training with an undergraduate degree from the University of New South Wales. Visitors will have the opportunity to see a wide range of military activities and displays throughout the day, as well as speak to midshipmen, officer cadets, military and university staff about life and study at the Academy.
