Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology IDN28500 Severe Weather Warning for damaging winds for people in the Illawarra, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, Snowy Mountains and Australian Capital Territory forecast districts Issued at 6:52 pm EST on Thursday 22 August 2013. DAMAGING WINDS FOR SOUTHEAST NSW Weather Situation A strong cold front will cross southern New South Wales tonight and early Friday, accompanied by vigorous westerly winds. Damaging winds averaging 80 km/h with gusts to 130 km/h are forecast for Alpine parts of the Snowy Mountains forecast district above 1900 metres tonight and early Friday. This may also generate blizzard conditions in some areas. During Friday morning, wind gusts to 90 km/h are likely in the ACT, Southern Tablelands, Illawarra and southern parts of the Central Tablelands forecast districts, chiefly about higher ground.
