Author Lionel Shriver talks about her book which was published in 2003, telling the story of the fictional character Eva Khatchadourian a type of lady who should have listened to her instincts and opted out of motherhood while she had the chance. Instead, to counter the impending sameness of married life, and to ‘”have something to talk about”, she and her husband decide to bring a little person into this world. Sadly. said little person is a sociopath from the moment he plops out of his mother’s vagina. ... Yeah we can all agree that the characters in the book have a little bit exaggerated and tense features but as the author mentions, shes not writing typical books with The boy meets girl / girl leaves boy kind teenage love story subjects. Shes questioning a taboo subject : What if your child has not a personality as you wish and what happens if everything goes out of control while raising a child? ... As it seems Lionel Shriver has already decided to shake the motherhood instincts of the masses in favour of logic and reason of the real lifes harsh conditions.
