Autism: Im a single mom to a very large 3 year old. When I say large, I mean he is 37 and reaching 50lbs. Hes nonverbal low-functioning autistic. The problem is, his fathers been out of the picture for over half a year. No support, nothing. Not even a phone call. Now I have no idea if this influences C or not. C is violent. The word NO sends him into a frenzy where he violently slams his crib into the wall, or his playset, or whatever. Ive tried timeouts and everything. Nothing works. He gets more frustrated and screams. Ive tried ignoring it. It doesnt work. He gets louder, and more violent, and will hit me. He hits me when he wakes up in the morning and Im not awake before him. He hits me when hes bored. Ive tried no. Ive tried lightly smacking his hand. Ive tried ignoring it. NOTHING WORKS! I am at my wits end here! My neighbors are asking me if Im (jokingly) beating my kids at this point because of how loud hes screaming and I just want to rip my hair out because no matter what I do, it just gets worse. He has multiple therapists, multiple doctors, and theyve all said theyve never seen it escalated so badly. None of their advice is even denting this problem. Please, I need advice before I lose my mind.
