Autism and Awareness You can never possibly imagine The life I live each day You cant understand my fears For my special child born this way You can criticise and you can judge But if you were given my shoes You wouldnt last even a few steps It is a battle that you would lose Parenting advice is not appreciated And I am not looking for a cure I cherish my child with Autism And I could not love him more It is true that life is hard for us But I feel strong enough to cope Where there is life and love There will surely always be hope On the days my legs feel tired And I feel too drained to carry on I look into my precious childs eyes And find it inside me to stay strong Some people will always judge me And they will never know my pain When I try so hard for my child Just to be put down again and again My life revolves around Autism now And Im dedicated to the task On the days I dont feel up to it I just smile and put on a mask My son was born a special child And I was chosen as his Mother I will fight for Autism awareness And Autism acceptance like no other © Donna Woods 2014 Donna Woods Poems :)
