Auto show thoughts. Subarus carpet was uncomfortably springy, - TopicsExpress

Auto show thoughts. Subarus carpet was uncomfortably springy, like walking on thin couch cushions. Odd. Best concept: tie between Ford GT and the Maserati. Favorite Production Car: tie between 911 Turbo and RS5. Honda brought the same display they have for the last four years. Cars were different. Same with Acura, Mini and Lexus. Love the thought of FR-S, just would be caught dead driving a Scion. Scions a little like walking around with your jeans hanging off your ass. It was sorta cool in 1995. Now, not so much. Toyota USA doesnt give a shit about their LeMans program. The barrier around the prototype was touching all four sides. People were leaning on the rear wing. Props to Corvette, Mazda, Mercedes, Infiniti, Alfa, Hyundai (btw - Joe Joe Huttle, it does have proper belts!) and Honda for getting it right. Dont bring the race car if you dont care about them. Ford displayed the awesome new GT, but completely failed to bring any of the three surviving 1-2-3 66 cars. Ford is friends with the owners of the Miles car and McLaren car. Not sure about Rob Dyson. The Gurney/Foyt car is sitting at the Henry Ford twenty miles away for chrissakes. Instead, they displayed a GT40 street car and Bill Fords white GT. Disappointing. The GT350R is surprisingly large, like Challenger-large. It looks a bit strange. Neat to see though. Looking at the Mustang on its side, a technique perfected by Mark Marasco and Bo Marasco, I noticed that we have plenty of room to dI a center exhaust. I wonder if itd save weight? One super cool thing was the green park in the center of the Ford display. It smelled so organic and sweet. Great juxtaposition with all the steel, rubber and plastic all around.
