Automata is a very good science fiction movie. there havent really been too many of those lately. There have been action-adventure movies with fantastic elements, but I would have a hard time classifying them as true science fiction. It has not received high praise, and I wouldnt expect it to because it is such a good science fiction story, and not eye candy for the masses who have trouble rubbing together two brain cells. At times, Automata channeled some visuals from Bladerunner, and drew a lot of inspiration from Isaac Asimovs I, Robot. I enjoyed it very much. If you seek a bit more from your visual entertainment than explosions and mindless action, please do give it a try. I give it 9 out of 10. imdb/title/tt1971325/
