#AuxiliariesinAction On Sunday, December 14, Auxiliary 845, Downington, Pennsylvania, hosted a holiday lunch for veterans that reside at the Coatesville Veterans Affairs Medical Center. In prior years, the holiday luncheon took place at the Post, however, this year the Auxiliary was invited by SALT President Lauren McComas to host the luncheon at the SALT Preforming Arts Center in Yellow Springs, Pa. In addition to the lunch, Ms. McComas offered to host a private showing of the SALT holiday musical Miracle on 34th Street,” with discounted tickets for veterans. Jenny Craig, a teacher at Lionville Middle School, along with the LMS Student Council, donated $1,000 to the Auxiliary to cover the cost of the tickets. Ron’s Original Bar and Grille donated a turkey feast for 80 veterans and students from Lionville Middle School’s “Patriot Club” led the Pledge of Allegiance before the meal and waited on veterans during the luncheon. Women from Calvary Fellowship’s Ventures group donated homemade cookies that were perfectly bagged up for each veteran to take with them. Each veteran received a gift bag full of socks, hats, scarves, gloves and fleece blankets along with handmade cards by the students who served them for the afternoon. It was a heartwarming day and the veterans expressed their sincere gratitude to both the students and Auxiliary members.
