Ava ManaiaWairoa Buy & Sell - RULE FREE! 29 mins · Edited · Hello Wairoa. Im based on the Gold Coast and thought I would try this page to look for someone. I dont know where to start so I will from the beginning. Well im looking for a sibling that I hv never met. It started back in September1953 where my pakeha father was 17 n dated a Maori/spanish girl from Wairoa. She was visiting Christchurch visiting whanau who lived across the road in Papanui. Her n dad dated until Christmas eve where before boarding the ferry back to Wellington she bid him farewell and told him she was pregnant with his child. He was dumbfounded and told her not to go..but she did anyway. He never saw her again. Months later his little sister..then 13..said she had seen Mariana at at dance back in Christchurch and she had gone really fat. This confirmed dads belief that she was with child. My papa is in his late 70s now and Mariana would be about 80. My so called sibling would hv turned 60 this year in the winter months. Dad has looked and research many 100s of hours to find her without success. When he met my mother..she embraced it but still nothing eventuated. He doesnt remember her surname. .but she was a stunning tall woman. Please share this with ur Wairoa friends please. In the hope someone may know something. Ive tried to attain records of the boat passenger list but they only had them from 1954. About 9 years ago I messaged older people on old friends website and I had one positive lead.This pakeha guy knew a woman by this name or Mereana and said she indeed did had a half caste child about 50. But she went on to marry and had more children but he didnt want to give me any further info so not to rock the boat. I ended up meeting someone from Wairoa who knew this fulla and said he also lived on the gold coast but died in 2007. My link to finding out more was gone. I do this as I just want to know and tell him or her they have 6 brothers and sisters and fill a void in our hearts. Help if u can please. This would mean alot to us and my dear old papa. Thank you.
