Breeding season is now underway in Alberta and June is the ideal month to breed as you dont want foals on the ground sooner than late April here. Wailea is a lovely 8-year-old mare fully breeding approved with the Hanoverian Verband (overall score of 7), available for LEASE, but is to remain on our farm. This would be a free lease; however, the leasee will be responsible for discounted board ($200/month with first 3 months free), all mare care costs, and mortality insurance on the mare (value $4500) payable to me. No board charged for the foal, and since I always have other foals to handle, your foal will be halter trained, learn to be groomed and pick up its feet along with everyone else. Wailea has a very good temperament, very likeable, gentle, and intelligent. Wailea also does not have any vices whatsoever - no kicking, no biting, no stall walking, weaving or wall kicking, no cribbing, not even wood chewing. She stands for the farrier and grooming and has, up to this point, conceived in foal on 1 cycle 1 dose, both fresh or frozen semen. Her pregnancies to date have been straight-forward, and her deliveries have been easy, uncomplicated, and textbook. She is a super mother, always thoroughly cleaning her foal, nudging them to the milk bar. Her foals are born correct, strong, sturdy, healthy, and vigorous. They are intelligent and learn new things very easily. Her filly in 2013 was awarded Best Dressage Foal at the Hanoverian Verband Mare & Foal Show at Spruce Meadows.
