Srinagar 20 June: Authorities have placed Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest while curfew like restrictions are in place in Old city areas of Srinagar to thwart any possibility of rally towards Municipal Park in Lal Chowk. The Hurriyat Media Advisor Shahid Ul Islam said he too has been put under house arrest at his south City home . Though the separatist group had not called for any strike but local business establishments, schools and public transport is off the roads in city with little movement of private vehicles. He had announced a programme scheduled to be held in the Park but administration put in place restrictions to thwart any movement towards the venue
