“Awesome Experience, Simply Awesome!” 5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2014 NEW It started out as a beautiful day, then turned into an amazing day. The last week of July is typically hot and muggy in Southern Illinois but today was cool and dry. My wife had never been on a zip line but she wanted to give it a try so we called and signed up. Our boys (ages 9 & 14) and I had only zip lined on short runs at the state fair so this was a new experience for the entire family. Shawnee Bluffs Canopy Tour is located in the somewhat remote heart of the Shawnee National Forest but its not too hard to find. When we arrived we were greeted by a very nice lady at the office and promptly checked in. We were then escorted to gear up by our guides John and Forest and quickly observed that safety is their top priority. Once geared up we went to the training zip line to learn the proper and safe way to use our equipment. Once each of us graduated from Flight School we were off to our adventure. There are eight zip lines in pretty much progressive length as we flew through the canopy. All I can say is WOW, WHAT A TRIP! Our family was full of excitement and adrenaline and FUN became apparent as the number 2 top priority. I cant say enough good about our guides and they truly seemed to be enjoying themselves as well. The tour also included 3 suspension bridges and a couple of short hikes. We spent a few extra dollars and rented one of their GoPro video cams which turned out to be well worth the money. Our guides also took photos throughout the tour and we bought the pics burned to disc. And yes, we HAD to have T-shirts. Before we even got out of the parking lot, our boys were trying to figure out when we could come back. Like I said, AWESOME, SIMPLY AWESOME! Less
