Aya and I decided to do a movie night tonight since it will probably be more challenging to do so when the baby comes. Im happy to say that both movies we watched were very enjoyable. We watched Captain America: Winter Soldier and The Grand Budapest Hotel. I was leery of Captain America, despite the good reviews, because lately I have felt like superhero movies (and other big action blockbusters) have been exhausting displays of unengaging cgi special effects. I thought that Captain America was actually interesting, and the action sequences we just real enough to not be boring. There was plenty of silliness in the action sequences, but it was not endless unaffecting pointless action like The Wolverine (which I thought was a steaming turd even though it got good reviews). So I recommend Captain America. I also recommend the Grand Budapest Hotel if you like Wes Anderson movies. I really thought it was wonderful. The story actually didnt feel like a typical Wes Anderson story, but stylistically it seemed more Wes Anderson than ever. So, if Wes Anderson grates on you then maybe skip it, but I really liked it.
