Aye! These words be true! Anonymous post in a forum on coursera.org/: So many times have I seen people said "Science is also based on faith, and thus is a religion". I know this stirs up a lot of emotions, but I gotta say, NO! Science is NOT a religion. It is not that which one is correct, or even which one makes the right prediction, but the fundamental nature of science and religion is totally different: Science advocates skepticism, religion advocates blind faith. If you disagree with Newton or Einstein, states your reason, states your observation, if it is sound, scientists praise you for it. If you disagree with Jesus(AND ALL OTHER gods for that matter), religious people cast you out. If we made a mistake, skepticism allows the possibility of making it right, even though the doubt itself may not, But blind faith turns humanity into a dead end, There is no escape, no improvement, no chance to get back onto the right track. That is why science is not a religion, at least what I think.
