Ayla asks Hello, my name is Ayla and I am new to Autism. My son Billy is 3 years old and has a under lining condition called Jeunes syndrome, it is a rare condition that many people havent heard of. Billy has been showing a lot of strange behaviour thats become more obvious over the past 12 months. I will start from the beginning. He walks on his tip toes, takes to his hands (a lot), makes very little eye contact with myself and people he knows well,(he has got better thanks to a team called portage) he hates change in routine, and places he doesnt know, he has a strong dislike of strangers, and bright lights, and vibrating noises ie electric tooth brushes, food blender, as well as hover, hair dryer, the spin on a washer, people shouting, children playing and much more. He likes to play by hisself, he doesnt line any body touching what he believes is hes. He is obsessed with light switcher and plug socket switchers. He is also a wiz on a iPad or iPhone, but will not give them up, for example he will not eat his tea or drink when in them, and would be happy staying up all night playing on them, when we take these things of him he goes in to what we call total melt down...he will scream till he can not breath, he will hit me, pull my hair and bite (hes a very strong little boy and has been known to bust my nose and scare my face). Recently he has started to eat his poo, and cover himself in it so hes now wearing vest with poppers at the bottom to stop him getting inside his nappy. He will not hold my hand or a strap when out trying to walk and will run straight into a road. We are now waiting for full reports from His pysico, speech therapist, occupational therapist, support worker, educational physiologist, and portage team. Ive known for a good 9months that he doesnt act like normal children, he is my 2nd and I never faced all this with my eldest. Now that Autism has been mentioned as to what they think is wrong I am now keen to find out all I can. Like I said at the beginning he has a rare condition that 3 years ago I knew nothing about, I made it my mission to know as much as could, I now know how to deal with Jeunes, but this is something new, something I really wasnt expecting, and some thing I do not know! I need to know as much as I can so I can help my son as much as possible! From what was said at Billys last TAC meeting its clear that autism is what we are now facing. I am back to the same place I was when My Billy was 1st born.....with a big ???mark hanging over my sweet strong little boy! If there is anyone that can help me in what to expect next, or information about Autism I would be very very grateful. Many thanks Ayla Marie x x
