B-Shift had a busy night shift May 25, 2014. The following is the list of calls that were attended to. At approximately 1900 hours PAFD responded with 1 unit and 4 men to the 400 block of 22nd street West for the report of an CO alarm activation. Co was detected in the structure due to a previous action in the residence. The CO was removed by manual ventilation. There were no injuries or loss of property. At approx. 7:30 pm PAFD responded with 3 units and 9 men to LaCroix Crescent for a residential alarm activation. Upon an investigation, it was determined that the alarm was the result of a cooking incident. There were no damages to report. At approx. 9:07 pm PAFD responded to the area south of Wesmor School for a grass fire. We found a small grass fire about 20 feet long by 10 feet wide. We were able to extinguish quickly before the fire could reach the nearby bushes. At approx. 10:00 pm PAFD responded with 3 units and 9 men to the 1600 block of River Street East for the report of residential alarms ringing. It was determined that a mechanical issue caused the detectors to fail. At approx. 11:28 pm PAFD responded to the alley in the 1500 block of 16th St west to extinguish a grass fire. Raked leaves that were piled in the back alley had become involved with fire, the fire also spread to include a residential fence. All was extinguished without incident. At approx. 11:48 pm PAFD responded to the 1900 block of 15th St west to inspect a fire pit that may be unattended. Our investigation found a pit that had been left unattended and the fire had spread to some nearby refuse. The pit and all refuse was extinguished. At approx. 1:55 am on May 26, 2014, PAFD responded to Sylkens Confectionary to extinguish a garbage can fire. We found a private garbage can in front of the store with its contents on fire. The can and contents were extinguished without further incident. At approx. 2:43 am on May 26, 2014, PAFD responded to the alley in the 1500 block of 16th St west to extinguish a grass fire. Raked leaves that were piled in the back alley, which had previously been on fire were once again involved with fire. The fire also spread to include a residential fence. All was extinguished without incident.
