#BABOR #EARTHDAY Since 2006, BABOR has maintained its own plantation of wild service (sorbus torminalis) trees in the Eifel Nature Park near Mechernich. On an area of about half a hectare, more than 1,500 seedlings have been planted in close cooperation with the Regional Institute for Ecology, Land Division and Forests (LBF). Today the berries of the wild service tree are a very rare, vitamin-rich fruit that is used in various cosmetic products. The wild service tree was voted Germany’s “Tree of the Year” in 2011.
