BABY SLAVERY AND KIDNAPPING A REFLECTION OF THE SINS OF NIGERIA . Nigeria remains the only country in west Africa whose principal players during the slavery era have refused and continue to be in denial about their role in that notorious trade of humans . Other west African nations who were active actors of the slave trade have publicly asked for pardon from Diaspora Africans who are descendants of that era and have taken steps to encourage African Americans who desire to make their nation their home . Such nations are The Ashanti of Ghana and elder of port novo Benin . The presidents of these two nation have also lend their voice in publicly accepting her role in such trade and have asked for pardon . Today about 10 000 African American have made Ghana their home and are permanent residents there .. These nations today do not experience such crimes as kidnapping and baby slavery because nature has memory of their show of remorse . However , Nigeria which produced 60% of slaves during that time has never shown any remorse nor has her principal players come out to accept their role in the trade . These principal players are The Oyo people of southwest Nigeria and the Aro confederate of southeast Nigeria . should we then be surprise that these two regions who supplied most of the slaves are today hunted by her past with the concentration of the current crimes of baby slavery and kidnapping , which are on the rise and the network so deep just as in the past . The elders of these two nations should make atonement on behalf of her people for the role their ancestors played during those dark time . Arrogance and foolish defence wont help . When we hide our evil past ,that evil past will come to hunt us . Every past action has a future reaction . If the nation continues to ignore this act her future Will continue to look blique and very uncertain .these nations must accept her past sins or greater evil Will continue to hunt this nation .
