BACKSLIDING (or sliding back into old habits) is very dangerous. The adversary has a way of whispering into your spirit that: Its ok. Its an urge that you just cant resist right now but God understands. Just do it this one last time and the next time youll be able to resist it. All you have to do is repent and itll be fine. Its a very subtle attack in which there almost seems to be a sense of compassion, but it is indeed very wicked. he knows 3 crucial things that you may not be aware of: 1. That most of us dont have a healthy prayer life and dont know how to sincerely repent 2. All he has to do is lure you to the door of sin and entice you to merely crack it open, then he and his backup are gonna burst into the door to your soul and set up shop 3. The guilt that comes as a result of yielding to the desire is more likely to make a man shy away from God rather than bring that sin directly before His throne If you keep falling back into old habits that you know are destructive to your body and soul, just realize that the next time its likely to be much more difficult to break free. No, its not easy and it is in noway a pleasant situation to be in, but you have to be willing to TAKE A STAND and tell yourself that THIS ENDS NOW!!! When the attack comes, and your flesh gets so weak that it feels like your own body is trying to turn against you, you drop down on your knees and you pray that Jesus take the burden off of you. Acknowledge to The Lord that its not something that you yourself can defeat without His help, and do not stop praying until the urge has completely passed. Yes, God knows that you are flesh and are constantly bombarded by urges, but none of us is unequipped to handle what attacks us. The problem is being unskilled in using the weapon which is The Word of God. Get in that bible and start reading for comprehension. Dont wait until the attack comes. Start reading and meditating right now to be better prepared when it does come again, because it IS coming again. ------------------------------------------ If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.” (Genesis 4:7 NKJV) “When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. Then he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation.” (Matthew 12:43-45 NKJV) No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. (1 Corinthians 10:13 NKJV)
