LORD, RENEW OUR MISSION SCHOOLS/LITERACY/BIBLE AND THEOLOGICAL SCHOOLS For upon the first day of the first month began he to go up from Babylon, and on the first day of the fifth month came he to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God upon him. 10 For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the LORD, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments. Ezra 7:9-10 (KJV) Positive Case Study: Ezra’s Men – Ezra 7:25-26 Jesus and His Disciples – Matthew 10:24; Mark 6:6 Negative Case Study: False Teachers – Revelation 2:14; 2 Peter 2:1 The foundation of the ministry of ministers is usually formatted in the seminary and Bible schools. This ivory tower is supposed to provide the spiritual, academic and administrative roadmaps for the minister-in-training. Therefore, every genuine revival that will last must affect the teachers, the teachings and the taught. Also, a denomination can hardly grow beyond the growth of those serving in her schools. Mission schools are also expected to build the foundation of Christian students from cradle to the post graduate studies. A denomination that is more concerned about the proceeds from the school than the quality of Christian education being imparted into the students is damaging the faith of these young ones. We need to become dedicated like Ezra who raised men to go about teaching quality virtues to the nation. Jesus was also a model teacher who taught to impact people for fulfilment in this world and for eternity. Let us pray for revival in Christian mission schools. APPRAISAL QUESTIONS 1. What is the primary focus of your mission school? 2. What are you doing to educate the uneducated in your church? 3. What is the impact of theological education in your denomination and how can it be improved? PRAYER POINTS 1. Praise God for the impact of NBC on theological education, mission schools and literacy ministry in Nigeria. 2. Ask God for revival in the lives of lecturers and teachers in these schools. 3. Pray for the renewal of our curriculum and teaching methods. 4. Pray that the purpose, aims and objectives of these schools will align with the purpose of God. 5. PRAYER FOR THE PRESIDENT AND THE NBC LEADERSHIP TEAM: Pray for leaders of our Theological Institutions: Rev. Dr. Emiola Nihinlola, Reuben Chuga, Simon Kolawole, John Enyinnaya, Philip Akinbobola, Aghawenu, M.M Oboh; J.A Farayola; Ayuba Iliya, Danjuma Magnat,and their faculties and staff. 6. PRAYER FOR THE CONVENTION-IN-SESSION 2014: Pray that the centenary celebration will be done in such a way that we shall enter new realm of grace with God. TODAY’S PROMISE: RENEWAL OF PROMISE OF ETERNAL INHERITANCE And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.
