BARBADOS CONTINUES TO REDUCE ITS CARBON FOOTPRINT Substances such as hydro-floro-carbons and methyl bromide are damaging the ozone layer and the Ministry of Environment and Drainage has taken action. Minister, Dr. Denis Lowe says Barbados is phasing out the use of these chemicals as the country has signed on to the montreal protocol. He was speaking at the launch of the National Ozone Depleting Substances Phase Out Support Scholarship. Awards were presented to scholarship recipients and representatives from the Government Information Service and media houses for their contribution in advancing the work of the Ministry of Environment and Drainage. Assistant National Officer in the Ministry of Environment and Drainage Shontelle Wellington says that these ozone depleting substances have negative impacts on the earth.
