BARBADOS MAKING PROGRESS ON CHILDREN’S RIGHTS Barbados - TopicsExpress

BARBADOS MAKING PROGRESS ON CHILDREN’S RIGHTS Barbados has been hailed for its continuous commitment to children’s rights over the years. According to the representative for UNICEF Office for the Eastern Caribbean, Khin Sandi -Lwin, the country has been advocating its children’s rights even before the UNICEF convention was declared 25 years ago. She says the island has made significant strides over the years but notes there is still much work to be done especially in the area of crimes against children. Her comments came during a rally held at the Hilton hotel this morning to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the convention of the rights of the child. Meanwhile UNICEFs Champion for Children and Chairman of the National Committee for Monitoring the Rights of the Child, Faith Marshall- Harris wants people to dispel the notion that children’s rights is a foreign concept.
