BBB received a call confirming the answer to our question this morning concerning the appointment of Beatriz Chaidez as our new special education director. Therefore, we are updating this as your Fun Fact of the Day. Beatriz Chaidez is married to Juan Chaidez, the new principal of Sherwood School, hand-picked by none other than Superintendent Juvenal Luza. Mr. Chaidez is a former teacher for the District who moved out of the area. In order to entice him back, it became necessary to find a position for his wife. Keep in mind, this is not an attack on Mr. & Mrs. Chaidez. We are told they are professional people with excellent reputations. However, the process used in the course of their appointments wreaks of cronyism. What is cronyism? Google it. The appointment of friends and associates to positions of authority, without proper regard to their qualifications. Janet Barnes told the Californian on June 24th that she simply okayed the recommendation to appoint Beatriz Chaidez instead of Terri Dye, who we already know was more than qualified for the job. Heck, even her satisfaction rating among district staff blew everyone elses out of the water! Good work, Janet. Dont ask questions; just keep believing Luza is doing whats best for students. As someone who personally saw how much Terri helped my own child, I dont believe that for one second.
