BBC journalist Tim Wilcox (speaking on the BBC News Channel, during its special news coverage of Paris rally, at 16.47 on Sunday 11 January 2015) asked a French woman about her reaction to the recent killings. She invoked the 1930s and pointed out that the Jews are the target now. He interrupted her in order to point out that “Many critics though of Israel’s policy would suggest that the Palestinians suffered hugely at Jewish hands as well”. She rightly points out that this is an ‘amalgame’ – conflation – but, unbelievably, Wilcox still pressed the point. You can see the clip here: https://youtube/watch?v=ISXgCRDIr1w&feature=youtu.be You can complain online to the BBC here: bbc.co.uk/complaints/ or by calling 03700 100222. Wilcox has now apologised, which is welcome, but it is still important that people let the BBC know how concerning and offensive this kind of discourse is.
