BBC1 Confirms second series of The Missing ..... Ho Hum. I really suspected as much; right up until the last ten minutes, this has been a gripping series that has ensured my place on the sofa at 9 pm on a Tuesday evening. Then the mysterious tramp in the snow covered playground is revealed to be none other than a partly deranged Tony Hughes punting Olivers drawing around. Cue another gripping series .... No. I dont think so. The Missing was rightly hailed as this years Broadchurch and like it, its popularity was such that the temptation of a lucrative second series was irresistible but any sequel will be nothing less than a watered down version, peppered with ludicrous red herrings and as easy to swallow as a handful of dry cream crackers. These excellent dramas should be limited to their eight to twelve weeks and then drawn to a definite and satisfying conclusion and not turned into something more like a soap plot.
