BCFEs Tomm Moore has done the college proud. His film Song of the Sea has just been shortlisted for an Academy Award – alongside Big Hero 6, How to Train Your Dragon 2, The Boxtrolls and The Tale of the Princess Kaguya - ousting box-office smash The Lego Movie from the best Animated Feature film category. The film was directed by Tomm Moore of Cartoon Saloon in Kilkenny - the company he set up with fellow BCFE graduate Paul Young in 1999. This is the 5th Oscar nomination for college graduates in recent years! The film boasts voices by previous Cartoon Saloon collaborator Brendan Gleeson as well as Fionnula Flanagan and Moone Boys David Rawle. It follows the story of a Selkie, a half-human, half-seal woman who disappears into the sea one night leaving behind her two children and husband. All will be revealed on Sunday Feb 22nd at the Academy Awards 2015 https://youtube/watch?v=HgbXWt8kM5Q
