BE DOER OF THE WORD Today’s journal: James: 1:22-23 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; Message: In today’s journal James speaks about the importance of putting our faith into action. There are many who like to talk about the importance following what the Bible says but there are few who actually put their belief into practice. It is through the Word that we learn and understand God’s will and plan for our life. We must not only hear but ‘do.’ For many people, the issue is not as much knowing God’s will but following the Word in obedience. Promise: We can only bear fruit and have the graces of Christ in our life as we are faithful to put into practice the Word of God. Warning: Then James tells us to “be doers of the word, and not hearers only.” There are too many people who are hearers only and not doers of the word. Command: We are to receive the word of God and be obedient followers of Christ. Let us be doers of the word and not hearers only. Application: Let us learn to be doers of the word in all areas of our lives. Our speech, our manner of treating others, and our actions towards strangers. If we struggle, we have a helper with us that will teach us and guide us every step of the way.
