BE PREPARED FOR THE POSSIBILITY OF LOSING YOUR PET! We have all been there... No one thinks it will happen to them and when it does, it is terrifying! Keep these things in mind and be prepared in case it does happen... 1. Make sure your pet has some sort of identification on at all times. Keep tags with your name and phone number on their collar. 2. Microchip your pet and keep that contact information up to date! A microchip requires a yearly subscription fee, normally less than $20, so do not forget to keep it active. 3. Have a GOOD photo of your pet taken. Make sure it is a clear and balanced photo that showcases your pet. You can take a series of these if your pet has any distinctive markings. We see it EVERY day... Good photos circulate much more than poor quality photos. 4. Create a LOST PET sign in advance so you can get it printed and posted quickly. Make sure to include a good photo, your address, and your contact info. All other info can be updated at the time. It can be difficult to think clearly when you have lost your baby, so it may help to have this already made. 5. Write down contact info for all shelters and rescues in your area. Have a list and be ready to call and visit them if your pet goes missing. Is there anything else that we are forgetting? We would like to turn this into a graphic to share with everyone, but we need your feedback. Is there anything else you do to be prepared? Thanks! ~christina
