BEFORE AND AFTER: This private woodland in Osage County was overcrowded with cedars, with some hardwood trees scattered among the cedars. Our Private Lands Services staff worked with the landowner on timber and habitat improvement. The landowner had the cedars cut for cordwood with the cedar branches left for wildlife cover. With the addition of sunlight, ground vegetation grew back. The landowner reports that deer are browsing the area and turkeys have been seen using the area.
