BEMBA CHIEFS UPSET WITH SATA The Bemba Royal Establishment says they will march to Paramount Chief Chitimukulu’s palace if the state continues to deploy armed officers at the palace. Government has deployed police officers in Senior Chief Mwamba’schiefdom in Kasama to prevent him from taking over his portfolio as Paramount Chief Chitimukulu after being appointed by the Bemba Royal Establishment. Over 30 village headmen and traditional councilors say they will march to demonstrate their displeasure at the continued presence of police officers. The headmen advised President Sata to deploy the armed officers to areas where they could be more effective in the country where lives were threatened. The headmen also indicated that they were itching for the 2016 general elections so that they could give their verdict on President Sata. “We are praying that 2016 should come fast so that we teach Sata and his party a lesson. We will campaign day and night to make sure Sata and PF rule for one term only,” said one of the headmen. In a surprising turn of events President Sata has refused to recognize Henry Kanyanta Sosala as the Bashilubemba’s choice of the position of Paramount Chief Chitimukulu. President Sata has even appointed Chief Chewe to take up Sosala’s position but the Bashilubemba have rejected that choice further worsening the standoff.
