BENEFITS Imagine that someone came up to you and asked, “What’s the big deal about being a Christian? What do you get out of it? What are the benefits? And don’t hand me a bunch of clichés. What does your Bible say? Can you point me to a specific chapter and verse?” Good question. There’s also a good answer in Ephesians 1:4-6: “For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight. In love He predestined us to be adopted as His sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will—to the praise of His glorious grace, which He has freely given us in the One He loves.” Paul began the passage by praising God and then describing how He has blessed you. What blessing? HE CHOSE YOU! Your salvation was not an afterthought. God didn’t remember at the last minute, “Oh yes, I need to save . . .” You were in the heart and mind of God before He created the world. Can you grasp that and realize how significant you are?
