BERT GRADUATION: On Saturday, October 18, participants in Benicia Emergency Response Team (BERT) Class 29 were on hand at the Benicia Fire Museum for the final day of their training. During the morning, students participated in a series of field exercises to culminate their training. Some of the exercises focused on how to secure utilities, conduct debris lifting and removal, perform basic medical assessment and treatment, and operate a fire extinguisher. After the completion of the skills stations, all of the students assembled inside the museum for closing comments and the presentation of their course completion certificates. Congratulations to all of the participants of BERT Class 29. They are all now better prepared to care for themselves and those around them during a disaster event.
