BETTER TOGETHER And the Nay have it. The Scots have decided and the decision of 55% of the majority of the voters that participated in the Independence Referendum on Thursday 18th September was that Scotland should and will remains in the union of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland Viva the United Kingdom. The referendum has come and passed. Scots have decided that the more than three century old union should not be dissolved, however, even with this resounding victory for the better together campaigners, the holding of the referendum and the peaceful manner in which the debates and the rest of the electioneering process was conducted makes the conduct of the referendum a victory for the democratic process in Scotland and the rest of the United Kingdom. Although the nay have it, yet the holding of the referendum represent a paradigm shift in the way and manner the wheel of the union of the United Kingdom runs. From all indications, the referendum represent the end of an era and the dawn of a new beginning first for Scotland in its relationship with Westminster and secondly, for the power relationships between Westminster and the remaining three nations of England, Wales and Northern Ireland that together with Scotland make up the United Kingdom.
