The same friend wrote again: Pythagoras taught his disciples that God is the universal mind diffused through all things, and that this mind by the sole virtue of its universal sameness could be communicated from one object to another and be made to create all things by only one force THE SOLE WILL POWER OF MAN!. so man is the device of manifestation of the creative power of the God force!. (man know thyself). On my article titled, Gov. Oshiomhole’s Woman, go and die and Narrow-minded Religionists, I got a response from a fan whom I will not mention his name, but the email is - ausadiq@yahoo - and his response is shared here for our benefits. It reads: I am a regular follower of your writes up and I feel you have clearly demonstrated the first step towards nation building which is respect for the very laws (constitution) that defined what is called Nigeria. You have said it all and i belief that in Nigeria religion particularly Islam and Christianity are the root cause of our retardation, laziness and wanting of the goodies of life without equivalent planning and action. Its sad how we use religion to justify irresponsible behavior or failures that are more often avoidable /preventable. The fact is the interpretation of Islam and Christianity make Nigerians have low level of internal locus of control leaving most believing in marabouts, babalawos, imams and pastors to provide miracles which make us have high external locus of control which history showed wasnt the reason that made nations develop and progress. Imagine some years ago Nigeria was ranked number better only to Somali, Liberia, S/Leone and DR Congo (World Health Report 2000). These are then and some even now war torn countries and so in essence Nigeria was actually last among nations that experience no war then. My view is Government must legislate in away to reduce the negative effect of the middle eastern religions. Imagine in Nigeria even meetings start and close with prayers and in between we lie, cheat, steal. One wanders why cant we see countries that lacked our resources and not too concern with religion have higher quality of life, lower levels of morbidity, mortality and disabilities.
