BGHS SUMMER NEWSLETTER Hey Hey everyone :) Sam’s back in the house doing the BGHS newsletter! Happy Summer solstice to you all! Or should I say Happy Litha to you all! (Its Neopagean name:)). For those of you that like a fact….. The summer solstice occurs when the tilt of a planets semi-axis, in either the northern or the southern hemisphere, is most inclined toward the star (sun) that it orbits. Earths maximum axial tilt toward the sun is 23° 26. For those with a little hippie inside of them …… Pagans are in awe of the incredible strength of the sun and the divine powers that create life. For Pagans this spoke in the Wheel of the Year is a significant point. The Goddess took over the earth from the horned God at the beginning of spring and she is now at the height of her power and fertility. For some Pagans the Summer Solstice marks the marriage of the God and Goddess and they see their union as the force that creates the harvests fruits. But no religion is left out it’s a multi faith day of importance! The Celts celebrated with bonfires that would add to the suns energy, Christians placed the feast of St John the Baptist towards the end of June and it is also the festival of Li, the Chinese Goddess of light. So all in all it’s a jolly good season to be in for the human spirit! Its seems only moments away that we were all knee deep in rain water and now we are half way through the year already………but what a year it’s been so far! Business is booming and we started keeping track on how many guided tours we do for Newbies every day and they make for great reading :) welcome to The World of BGHS all of you who have found us recently. Wherever the word has got out it’s the right place as 99% of the new people we have met recently are meant to be with us the other 1% make for many hilarious stories but as I don’t want to get sued they won’t be told here ;) So the world is crazy fast at BGHS as Im sure it is with all of you to, I refuse to acknowledge it’s an age thing by saying “where does the time go!” .But in all honesty this world is fast now with your mobile phone strapped to you with its text, wifi, internet, email pings and dings and vibrates reaching you on a 24/7 basis. So BGHS has become a haven for some of you to lock that outside world away in your locker for a few hours to save your sanity. Im thinking BGHS really should be prescribed by the NHS! Lol! Off the back of this and my inability to clone myself to keep up with everything I need to do at work the Newsletter is now going to be defined by the planets and will be updated on a seasonal basis rather than monthly. If you want to hear the latest update of the moment before it goes out in a Newsletter come and visit us and have a chat …….you might even be around at a time when Im holding “cup of tea and chocky finger meeting” in my office ….otherwise known as the TV room Lol. So plans already under way for this season at BGHS are the solarium ceiling which is being done in a beautiful blue marble in the next few weeks. I should have known by now that no wallpaper could with stand the high humidity within BGHS so although our sky ceiling in the solarium is really beautiful I need to re do it in a material that can cope with the conditions. So no worries you can still lie back and look at the blue sky on a cloudy rainy day but for a few days at the end of June it might look a bit like a “work in progress” but it’s all being done outside opening hours so nothing will disrupt your relaxation. The next two areas of projects are places you can’t see as they are our staff areas. As we have grown and expanded our fabulous team have needed more space and certain other requirements to be able to run the building as efficiently as they do. So right now my office if full of boxes and bits and pieces that will be made into a beautiful staff area that can accommodate their needs. I’ll leave it at that for now otherwise I’ll start rambling over how excited I am to find magnetic paint! Those of you that arent Newbies will know Im on first name terms in B&Q, Screwfix, Argos, Dockerills, Brewers etc. ………oh the glamour !!! :) The other project coming up over the summer is the soon to be ex fish tank! This will make you laugh for all of you who have kept count of the fish “demises” when Angie has been on holiday and I have been left in charge of them………… I believe that due to an early childhood experience of watching Jaws and being petrified I have managed to emit a death ray to fish! I get near them and then a few moments later they seem to be swimming upside down! So off this “talent” I am turning the fish tank into a Terrarium ….but obviously with a little artistic twist ……….watch this space …….actually watch the space where the fish tank was! Lol On that note I bid you all adieu on the Newsletter page for a few months. We look forward to seeing you all soon and spending the next few months warm and wet with you.
