BHADARWAH JULAY 2 :---With the Power Development Department (PDD) imposing unscheduled power cuts, people here have been feeling uncomfortable.Lodging their strong resentment against the long and unscheduled power cuts Janta Dal secular state president Mast Nath Yogi blamed the government for subjecting the people to long power curtailments despite paying regular bills. He said that regular 12 hours power cuts in Bhadarwah City have made the life of people a living hell in these hot and humid conditions. Accusing the PDD, he said, “The department are gifting to the people, the power cuts in return of regular payment of bills”. Yogi alleged that the PDD did not adhere to its time-table of power cuts and resorted to unscheduled power cuts. He said that the department extended scheduled power cut beyond five hours,making people suffer. "The government must take effective steps to redress the problem which affects all".“Bills amounting to crores are pending with bureaucrats and ministers but still they are enjoying 24 hours special line of power and water but on the contrary, people who are paying their bills on time are deprived of the same”, he said. He also said that the power consumption between Jammu and Kashmir regions is in the ration of 40:60 respectively, but when it comes to revenue realization, Jammu contributes more than 66% of power tariff with barely 33 % coming from Kashmir region. “Despite all this, Jammu is being discriminated in power distribution”, he said. He further stated that the power supply to Jammu region has been further curtailed during 2012-13 due to highly prejudicial and callous approach of helmsmen. Sandeep Singh of adjoining Dosa Pani village alleged the PDD resorts not only to unscheduled power cuts but even when power supply is there, voltage is too low. In my village and many adjoining villages, unscheduled power curtailment is a huge problem affecting people. Even when the department concerned supplies power, the voltage is very low.
