BHOPAL: Students of Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) raised slogans on the campus on Tuesday when they were told of the decision of fee hike that NIT council had taken last year. Tuition fees of BTech, MTech and MCA programmes in all NITs have been doubled from this academic session from Rs 35,000 to Rs 70,000. More than 70 students of BTech and MTech batches protested against the notice issued by the institute on Tuesday morning citing that the institute was raising the fee in the middle of the session. The institute received the first letter on May 5, when it had hiked the fee for new admissions. Thereafter, a second letter was received on July stating 1 that the new fee structure has to be implemented for all students in all the courses of the institute. The slogan shouting lasted for an hour in front of the administrative building. A student of second year, wishing anonymity, said, Many of my classmates and seniors have taken loans for studying engineering. This move will adversely impact our loans installments as it is pre-approved. Despite the protests, MANIT made it clear that it was a Union ministry decision implemented across the country and irrevocable. ........ weblink****///---+++ . m.timesofindia/City/Bhopal/Maulana-Azad-National-Institute-of-Technology-students-see-red-over-doubling-of-tuition-fee-hike/articleshow/38441822.cms
