BHm -Sport No 29 Lacrosse. A team sport of Native American/First Nations Iroquois origin played using a small rubber ball (62.7mm -64.77mm) and weighing 140-147g - a long handled stick called a crosse or lacrosse stick. It is often played as a contact sport. The head of the stick is strung with a loose mesh designed to catch and hold the lacrosse ball. Offensively the object of the game is to score by shooting the ball into an opponents goal using the lacrosse stick carrying and passing to do so. Defensively the object is to keep the opposing team from scoring and to gain the ball through the use of the stick checking and body contact or positioning. The sport has 4 main types: Mens Field Lacrosse, Womens lacrosse, Box lacrosse and Intercrosse. The positions are midfield, attack, defence and goalkeeper.
