BIG NEWS!!! Liverpool have made a formal bid of 18mil for Bayern Munich midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri after making a formal €18 million according to reports. Xherdan Shaqiri has struggled to hold down a regular place in the Bayern Munich team after joining from FC Basel in 2012. The Switzerland international made just 17 Bundesliga appearances (10 starts) under Pep Guardiola last season. A lack of playing time has led to speculation that the 22-year old is looking to quit the Allianz Arena this summer and reports suggest the Bundesliga champions have given the player permission to discuss a move to interested parties. The Metro have cited reports from Swiss outlet Blick that claim Liverpool are in pole position to sign the Switzerland international after making a formal bid of €18 million to the German giants. Xerdan Shaqiri is a massive talent and one of only two players to score a hat-trick at this summer’s World Cup. He is predominantly a right winger but is capable, and has played all over the midfield for Bayern Munich, as a backup to Arjen Robben, Franck Ribéry and Toni Kroos. (red)
