BIOGRAPHY OF FADHILATU AL- SHEIKH USTAZ MU’AZ ABDULLAHI MUA’Z His name is Mua’z, the son of Malam Abdullahi Mu’az Gwarzo and Sayyada Asma’u, He was born on Saturday 19th of November 1963 / 22th of Jumadah Al-Thani 1383-4 (A.H) in Aboaboa area of Kumasi Ghana, they later moved to Accra on the invitation of one of his father’s relatives called Alh. Saluhu Maikankan where they finally stayed at Darkuman. His father was known to be a Nigerian, an indigene of Gwarzo village which is now in modern Kano state of Northern Nigeria. He was known to be a scholar (malam), who set out on a journey for trade and dissemination of religious teaching– as it was the habit of most of the scholars from the northern part of Nigeria, where he later ended up in Ghana. Among of the places his father’s visited and resided were Lokoja, the now capital of Kogi state in central part of Nigeria and other places therein like Agege, Lagos, then Ouida (wida) to Agyashei in Port Novo and Cotonou all in Benin Republic. Maulana Sheikh Ustaz Mu’az started his study under the guardianship of his noble father Malam Abdullahi, and then he took him to Malam Hasan (Hafizi) in Darkuman, where he was able to recite the entire holy Qur’an fluently at age of eight. At his tender age, Maulana was such a brilliant and talented kid who easily understood whatever he was thought by his father and his teacher. Regardless of western education revolution at that time, his father did not rush in enrolling him into it, not until he finished his Qur’an studies. His brilliance did not stop there, with his admission into school he became one of the most brilliant and excellently-performing pupils of his set, academically, morally, and in other extra-curricular activities like punctuality in school attendance. As a matter of fact, he became popular and an exemplar amongst his peers. Maulana did not go farthest in his western education, he was only able to complete the Junior Secondary School (JSS) section, but nevertheless, when confronted by the Masters and Bachelor degrees holders they all become amazed with his awesome talent. Then, from there, as it was the wish and desire of his noble father, Maulana embarked on a journey to Agyashei, Porto Novo in pursuit for more Islamic and Arabic studies where he registered for almost a year in a Madrasah (Arabic & Islamic School) which was managed by some Arabs. Maulana did not go far into that also (to obtain a certificate). He possesses no degree from Azhar University nor has any certification from other Islamic universities, but yet, people who studied in Azhar and the likes of it, and those who possess very high certifications regard him with high esteem and dignity; great men like of late Dr Abdul Hadi Sheikh Tahir Bauchi, Malam Muhammad Ishaq (Al-AZHARY) to mention but few, all acknowledged his scholarship. Indeed Maulana’s knowledge is a fortune and a gift from Allah (SWT) “ZA LIKA FADHLULLAHI YU’TIHI MAN YASHA’U….”
