BIRTHDAY WISHES: Mike Mitchell was born today in 1994 in Cityview, Texas. Despite his age, Mike Mitchell has already performed on world class stages and is the current drummer for legendary bassist Stanley Clarke. Mike Mitchell has been playing the drums for as long as he can remember. Fresh out of high school, hes already made a name for himself by performing constantly in his hometown of Dallas and regularly touring internationally with the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Ensemble. More recently he performed with Herbie Hancock. Stanley Clarke, whos played with the likes of Steve Gadd, Billy Cobham, and Gerry Brown, couldnt help but notice Mikes exceptional talent and invited him to join his touring band last year. We saw Clarke and Mitchell perform live over the past two years and the pair make a positively burning rhythm section. Playing everything from Clarkes latest to classic Return To Forever and School Days tunes, Mike Mitchell consistently demonstrates a powerful and confident command over his instrument often inspiring Clarke to applaud from the stage and join the audience in celebrating this young mans talent.
