BITOU CRIME WISE REPORT: Last night at around 23h00 three suspects wearing balaclavas gained access to a house in Keurbooms, assaulted the couple and took their cellphones and other electronic equipment. Plettenberg Bay Crime Prevention Association (PBCPA) was alerted when they fled towards Arch Rock. No more details are available as SAPS are busy with the investigation. Around 3am, 10 armed suspects stormed the security guard at Eyeythu Shopping Centre in Kwanokuthula from different directions. Whilst a firearm was aimed at him, the guard fended off an attacker who stabbed him several times in his hands. During the struggle they took all the guards equipment, cellphone, wallet and hand radio. The guard managed to free himself and slipped through the attackers’ circle, ran over the N2 and alerted his control centre. The criminals fled into the bushes; they did not have time to break into the shopping centre. Kwanokuthula SAPS was quick on the scene and a case was opened. The security guard was taken to hospital and was released after treatment.
